This always happens when I am teaching a SharePoint Designer course. You have that one person in the room who knows about web design and starts talking about how clunky tables are for designing pages. Of course SharePoint 2007 is built on tables.
I was recently rummaging through some Bing pages and came across this post from Andrew Connell (SharePoint MVP) which talks about SharePoint 2010 and how Microsoft has take out the table and are using div tags. Wow, much easier and cleaner! Check out his full post.
